INTRODUCTION

TechThis course focuses on getting you well versed in the basic summer mountaineering skills. The key skills you will receive instruction on throughout the course include: movement skills on rock, belay techniques, anchor judgement/selection, protection placement, rope work skills and route choice.

We will use both scrambling routes and other suitable rock outcrops accessible from the refuges to teach the above skills. Along with instruction on the mountaineering skills you will also be guided on some of the classic scrambles in order to consolidate learned skills in context.

For our technical mountaineering and climbing courses a good base of mountaineering and climbing experience is required. Please outline your experience in our booking form. The final course itinerary and content will be left to the discretion of the guide.

The MIA is a professional award and holders are assessed to high standards in the skills required for instructing mountaineering, including all aspects of summer rock climbing, the coaching of lead climbing and scrambling. We do not compromise on your safety.
